Dalip Kaur (1935) was Professor of Punjabi, and Dean, Faculty of Languages, Punjab University, Patiala. A leading novelist and short-story writer in Punjabi she has published 27 novels, seven collections of short stories, the first part of her autobiography and a literary biography. Decorated by the Govt of India in 2004 (Padma Shri) she is the recepient of numerous awards. Her works have been translated into English, French, Russian, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Gujarati.
